INFORMATION ABOUT THE PRODUCT – Track ballast is the coarse aggregate typically crushed granite (30–50 mm in size) placed beneath, around, and between railway sleepers (ties). It creates the stable trackbed foundation that supports passing trains. Key Functions Load Distribution: Spreads the immense weight of passing trains from the sleepers to the ground beneath, preventing the track from sinking. Stability: The sharp, angular edges of the crushed stone interlock with one another, securing the track geometry and stopping it from shifting under lateral and longitudinal stress. Drainage: Permits rainwater to quickly drain away, preventing the structural deformation that results from waterlogging. Vegetation Control: Suppresses weed growth, which can compromise the integrity and safety of the track structure.
